Meet the Designers
Nicole Chernyakhovsky
Founder and Lead Designer
Nicole@Larkspurlandscapeco.com
For years, Nicole has been inspired by the beautiful and wild Colorado landscape. While in quarantine, she devoted time to the design of her own garden, and began to shape plans for a big career shift. She dreamed of combining her long-time passions for design, nature, plants, flowers, and trees with the dependability and relationship-building skills acquired from her business experience. Soon after, her garden drew the notice of her first clients, and not long after, Larkspur was born. With the growth of these clients (and of her garden), also grew the encouragement to instill this love and passion with whomever seeks more life and beauty for their environments.

Raised among gardens, Nicole developed a lifelong relationship with plants, and a passion for designing with purpose. She brings creative vision, technical skill, and deep knowledge of Colorado’s climate to every project. Her specialties include native plant design, water-wise planning, and pollinator-friendly landscapes that support both ecosystems and homeowners alike. With a background in art and years of hands-on Front Range experience, Nicole helps clients shape outdoor spaces that are both beautiful and resilient, and ensures they feel confident long after the install is complete.
Collective Excellence
Born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, Sonya grew up with a short but precious growing season, an experience that shaped her deep appreciation for time spent outdoors and working with the land. Following in her mother’s footsteps, she has always been drawn to plants, flowers, and the quiet satisfaction of caring for growing things.
At Larkspur, Sonya brings that same attentiveness to the gardens she tends, helping landscapes mature, thrive, and evolve throughout the seasons.
When she’s not maintaining and improving professional landscapes, Sonya can be found in her own home garden sanctuary. She also loves tending to her chickens, goats, and bees. Sonya and her husband own an organic farm in Longmont, where they grow grains and forage while focusing on improving soil health.

Coming from a family of Texas Master Naturalists, Spencer has spent the last 10 years studying the outdoors and putting that knowledge to work designing and maintaining native garden spaces.
After moving to Colorado in 2022 to study anthropology at CU Boulder, he quickly became fascinated by the biodiversity of the Front Range. Following his graduation summa cum laude with departmental distinction, Spencer worked and volunteered at farms and gardens throughout Boulder to deepen his understanding of people’s relationships with nature and explore ways to strengthen those connections.
Spencer brings together his knowledge of native plants and ecology with experience in organic gardening, integrated pest management, and anthropology. He hopes to share that passion with others by helping create spaces where people and nature can come closer together.

Grace sees nature as a project partner rather than a blank canvas. Her experience with landscapes is broad, spanning restoration, farming, and design, and that range informs the thoughtful way she approaches garden care.
Her passion for native plants, combined with a strong artistic eye, makes her attentive to both the ecological health and the visual character of a landscape. Grace is currently pursuing her Master’s in Landscape Architecture at CU Denver, with the goal of helping create meaningful public green spaces for underserved communities.
She brings a strong foundation in ecology, a deep curiosity about evolving sustainable landscape practices, and a willingness to get her hands dirty along the way.
