Nature-Inspired Thanksgiving Tablescapes with Kit & Tara
As we begin turning our attention to Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving, and all the intimate gatherings that bring us around the table with loved ones, it's not just about the food, it's about the feeling. For me personally (Nicole Z.!), the magic lies in the ambiance: the lighting, the textures, the quiet beauty of thoughtful details. It's the layers that create the backdrop for lasting memories.
So naturally, we turned to two of Larkspur Landscaping's favorite designers, Kit of The Perfect Petal (Denver-Based and Tara of Fawns Leap (Boulder-based) florists whose work effortlessly blends elegance and nature to create gorgeous tablescapes.
Meet the Designers
KIT RUTH: Earthy Elegance with Edible Elements
Known for her grounded, organic aesthetic, Kit brings a sense of natural drama to the table. "One element I always include in a nature-inspired Thanksgiving setting is something edible. A centerpiece built with mushrooms and moss, or a scattering of heirloom pumpkins, feels seasonally rich and lingers beautifully beyond the holiday itself."
For florals, Kit's approach is just as intentional. "Candles are essential. They instantly transform the mood and elevate even the simplest table. A row of bud vases adds soft, playful movement, and I always love incorporating dried branches or grasses from the yard, they bring in shape and texture while feeling wonderfully personal."
TARA HUSTON: Refined Abundance with Seasonal Texture
With a style rooted in timeless beauty, Tara offers a perspective that balances richness with restraint. "In addition to florals and candlelight, I love the look of seasonal fruit, bowls or baskets filled with pears, pomegranates, persimmons, or satsuma oranges. It creates a sense of natural abundance and, of course, the fruit can be enjoyed long after the guests have gone."
Tara is also a master of detail: "A sprig of rosemary or thyme tucked into a linen napkin, or a small bundle of eucalyptus or dried pods, adds a final, polished layer to the setting."
For a long-lasting element, she recommends incorporating living plants: "A beautiful begonia or succulent, or even a small pot of herbs or ornamental peppers, they bring life and continuity beyond the day of the event."
Creating Moments
Whether it's a table grounded in autumnal mushrooms and candlelight or layered with fresh herbs and heirloom fruit, Kit and Tara remind us that a well-designed tablescape is more than just decoration,it's an experience.
This season, we're designing tables not just to impress, but to connect, celebrating the moment, the meal, and the people gathered around it.
